Giant Gains at Malvern: How Lee’s 275kg Squash Showed the Power of Biocore Agri

At Creation Garden Supplies, we’re in the business of nurturing giants—giant plants, giant yields and giant ambitions. And this Autumn, one of our very own partners has proven just how powerful that vision can be.

We’re proud to celebrate Lee Herrington, the passionate grower and founder of the Life at the Allotment Facebook group, who just placed second at the Malvern Autumn Show with a jaw-dropping 275kg (608lb) squash—grown using our organic Biocore Agri fish food-based nutrient!

Lee’s Story: From Plot to People

Lee’s not just focused on what’s growing in his own garden—he’s been helping others grow too.

His Facebook group, Life at the Allotment, has become a go-to space for growers to ask questions, share photos, swap tips and show off their hard work. From beginners setting up their first raised beds to experienced growers chasing show prizes, everyone’s welcome—and Lee’s at the heart of it.

What started as a personal love of growing has turned into something much bigger: a community built around encouragement, advice and good old-fashioned allotment chat.

Why Biocore Agri?

Lee’s squash is a great example of what can happen when the right growing techniques are matched with the right feed. Biocore Agri’s Hydrolysed Fish Blood & Bones is an organic liquid nutrient, made in the UK using entirely natural ingredients—including fish hydrolysate, bone meal and blood. It’s packed with amino acids, trace minerals and enzymes that help build a healthier, more active soil environment.

By supporting microbial life in the root zone, it helps plants take up nutrients more efficiently, develop stronger roots and grow with greater vigour. From allotment plots to commercial greenhouses, Biocore Agri is proving its value—and Lee’s giant squash is living proof.

A Well-Earned Second Place

Lee’s squash came in behind Curtis Leach, who took first place and earned the coveted red Malvern card, awarded to the class winner. We tip our hats to Peter—a respected figure in the competitive growing scene—and extend a massive well done to Lee for pushing the boundaries and landing such a strong result.

Second place at Malvern is no small feat. It’s a nationally recognised competition with decades of history, and growers from across the UK bring their very best. Lee’s result is a testament to his consistency, dedication and his willingness to try new techniques and inputs.

What’s Next for Lee?

Lee is already planning next season’s entries and has hinted at new growing techniques and product trials—including even more Biocore experiments. If this year was the year of the squash, who knows what monster crops next year could bring?

We’ll be following Lee closely, supporting him with whatever he needs to keep pushing boundaries, and sharing his journey with the whole Creation community.
